[i] Preamble

Soulfire is a FFXI endgame linkshell on the Shiva server. We take part in a wide variety of the available endgame activities, including Dynamis, Sky, Sea, Limbus, Einherjar, Salvage, and HNM camping. Our goal is to maintain a successful presence in each of these activities, while having fun and not entirely surrendering our real lives to do so. To maintain our sanity and fairness during our adventures, the leaders and members of the Soulfire linkshell ascribe to the following policies.

[I] Officers

Soulfire is somewhat unique among linkshells in that we are more of an oligarchy than a strict dictatorship. We have many sackholders and officers, each responsible for running a particular in-game event or an aspect of the linkshell government. Any concerns regarding a particular facet of the linkshell should first be directed to the appropriate leader, who will bring it to the attention of other sackholders.

The responsibilities of officers are as follows:

Leader: Brickhouse

The linkshell leader is our general manager. He is responsible to maintain order and organization within the linkshell, and to address any problems that hinder the goals of the linkshell. Specific tasks include assigning leaders to events, maintaining the event calendar, leading Promathia Dynamis events and Kirin fights, being prepared to lead an event if the assigned leader cannot, and mediating issues between members. Many final decisions are made by the linkshell leader, including dictating HNM and sky drops to members, vetoing membership votes, promoting and demoting sackholders, and kicking members from the shell for infractions.

Co-Leader: Shadokaryuudo/Llenomor

The co-leader is our vice president and webmaster. He is reponsible for the operation of the website, forum, and points database. During times when the linkshell leader is offline, the co-leader is responsible for pertinent decision making and general leadership. In game, the co-leader currently runs Dynamis Xarcabard.

Recruitment Officer: Darencosbyybsoc

The recruitment officer is responsible for processing membership applications. This includes explaining the process to potential members, starting discussion threads, holding votes on new members, keeping probation dates and main job lists current, and maintaining the application section of the forum.

Sackholders: Azmodius, Braelynn, Kactuar, Linkx, Syano, Zhefer

Sackholders are expected to do what they can to make the linkshell a better place to be. They are responsible for leading events, entering points into the database, reporting their event results on our blog, and keeping the peace between members. They are also responsible to be a knowledge source on both linkshell policy and game mechanics. Sackholders in charge of events are designated in the particular event section of the policy.

Chain of Command:

During an event, the event leader is considered to be in charge and is responsible for determining the goals of the event and setting up necessary alliances. Any issues should first be addressed to the party leader, then to the event leader. Any issue unresolved from that process should be directed to the highest ranking leader present.

[II] Website & Forum

Soulfire maintains a website available at

http://www.soulfirelinkshell.com

which features a blog, calendar, members points database, and a forum.

The forum is our primary method of event planning, so each member needs to maintain the ability to access the forum to keep themselves informed. Many of our forum sections are accessable by non-linkshell members. New forum accounts must be approved by an administrator, currently Shadokaryuudo or Brickhouse. Existing forum accounts which need permissions changed may be addressed by Shadokaryuudo, Brickhouse, or Darencosbyybsoc. Issues with the operation of the forum, including the gear claim system

The member points database is used to keep a history of the attendance of all official linkshell events, and the items obtained therein. Each member must keep their profile current to be considered for drops, as several website functions depend upon profile information.

The blog puts forth our successes and frustrations for all to see. It is generally updated by sackholders, but all memberss may post the results of their recent events. Speak with Shadokaryuudo if you need help with using wordpress or resizing images.

[III] Membership

In terms of our members, Soulfire is a mature linkshell. The majority of our members have careers, classes, children, and realize that ffxi is a hobby. We have members on at all times of the day, but our major events are tailored to fit the schedule of a working adult. While members are not -required- to attend every event, most do attend every event, and those with low attendance will find themselves quickly overtaken in points totals by more dedicated players.

To maintain active status, a member is expected to earn a bare minimum of 5 linkshell points in the last 5 weeks. Any members who dip below that are considered to be inactive, and may return to active status at a cost of half their points. This rule can be waived if notification of an impending absence is given to the linkshell on the forum.

Members are expected to maintain decorum in game and on linkshell chat, leaving disagreements to the forum. Any sackholder may be approached to mediate a disagreement between members. Excessive instigation is grounds for removal from the linkshell.

New members are subject to a probation period before they can lot as a full member. This probation period ends when the new member reaches a total of 60 accumulated points. If no full member has an item claimed, it will go to a probationary member before being tossed. Probationary lotting does not apply during dynamis or einherjar, which are open to the public. If a member attends an event with another linkshell, and this is an event for which Souflire linkshell points are awarded, said member is put on probationary lotting for that event.

Soulfire should be the main linkshell of all members. Social shells are allowed for small events, but members are required to never camp NMs against other linkshell members, and should be wearing their Soulfire pearl during events and HNM windows in prime time.

Players wanting to join Soulfire should speak in game with the recruitment officer, linkshell leader, or co-leader to get a forum account and gain permission to apply. Current requirements for joining the linkshell are as follows:

1A) You must have one of the approved jobs (as denoted in the subsequent post) at level 75.
-OR-
1B) You must have 1 tank, 1 damage dealer, and 1 support job at level 75.
2.) You must have all appropriate subjobs.
3.) You must be willing and able to play any job asked by the event leader.
4.) You must have access to Dynamis-Xarcabard.
5.) You must have access to The Garden of Ru’Hmet.
6.) You must read our policies in full.
7.) You must have approval to apply from the Recruitment Officer or Linkshell Leader.
8.) Your event interests must match those of the linkshell.

These requirements may be adjusted at any time, or waived for exceptional candidates.

Our application procedure is as follows:

1.) Attend a minimum of 3 events as a guest.
2.) Meet the above requirements.
3.) Obtain approval for application.
4.) Create a forum account and post your application.
5.) Obtain a temporary pearl from a sackholder.
6.) Two week pause while your application is considered. During this time applicants are required to
attend every event for which they are online, and are required to keep their temporary pearl
equipped.
7.) The thursday after 2 weeks are up, your application will be put to a vote.
8.) Voting process will take no less than 3 day
9.) Accepted applicants are on probationary status until they earn 60 linkshell points.
10.) If an application is declined, the applicant must wait a minimum of 2 weeks before reapplying,
and must address the reasons they were not accepted.

To ensure our lotting applications work properly, each member is required to maintain a linkshell profile. The profile editor is accessible from the member links on the right side of the main page of the website. Members are also required to declare one “main job” which is the job for which they most wish to lot gear. Main jobs must be at level 75, and are declared for a period of six months. After this period, the member may apply to change their main job at any time. Main job changes must be approved by the linkshell leader or membership officer. Anyone not approved for a job change may reapply after four weeks. Note that a main job is declared for lotting purposes, not for attendance. Members are expected to always attend events on the job the event leader requires of them.

[IV] Events

The following activities are officially sanctioned linkshell events and fall under the linkshell jurisdiction: HNM camps, Sea, Einherjar, Dynamis, Limbus, and Sky. Each of these activities has a method of awarding points for attendance and using those points for disseminating rewards. Specific rules are included in the appendices.

The following events are not officially sanctioned linkshell events and members who plan and organize these types of events must arrive at their own set of fair rules: BCNM, ENM, KSNM, ISNM, ZNM, NM camps, Missions, Quests, Assaults, and Salvage.

The event schedule is maintained on the main page of our forum by the linkshell leader. This information is duplicated in the /lsmes for events in the near future by sackholders. Unsanctioned events which require high attendance (i.e. ZNM, KS99, TOAU Gods) may be added to the official calendar with the permission of the linkshell leader. The leader of said event should utilize the “help wanted” section of the forum to gauge initial interest in the event. When enough members sign up, the schedule should be decided upon and presented to the linkshell leader for final approval. If approved, the event will be listed both on the calendar and in the “Scheduled Events” forum section.

Our general weekly schedule is as follows: (All times are in Eastern)
Sunday: 7pm Dynamis
Monday: 9pm Einherjar
Tuesday: Night Off for Static Parties, Salvage, Assaults
Wednesday: 8pm Sea (occasionally replaced with sky)
Thursday: 9:15pm Einherjar
Friday: Night Off for Personal Goals
Saturday: 7pm Limbus, Unsanctioned Events after

The calendar on the forum main page is to be considered the final source for event times. However, HNM camps may occur in lieu of scheduled events if they fall during prime time. This change will not be noted on the forum, but will be in the /lsmes.

[V] Points

Linkshell points are used to track the effort put in and the rewards received by each member. Points are accrued through attendance in sanctioned linkshell events. They are used to determine lotting rights, and are spent on gear obtained from sanctioned events. The method of points accumulation and lotting are different for each event, and thus are left to the appendices.

At each event, one member is assigned as attendance secretary. This person should note the members present at the beginning and end of the event. Members who leave an event early or arrive late must take it upon themselves to tell the attendance secretary when they arrive and when they depart. Failing to do so will result in no points being awarded to said member for that event. The secretary must post the attendance and the gear obtained by members during the event in the proper forum section. From here, an attendance officer will submit the attendance to the points database.

Current Attendance Officers: Braelynn, Snibe, Zhefer

The process of posting and entering points for an event is generally completed by the weekend following the event. Members are responsible to take it upon themselves to check recent attendance postings and their listing in the database for accuracy. The database is accessible through the member links on the main page of the website. Errors should be posted on the appropriate event attendance thread.

[VI] Bank

Soulfire maintains a communal bank which is used to pay entry fees for non-sponsored dynamis runs and einherjar, and to provide a gil value for linkshell points. The bank is currently held in equal portions by Brickhouse and Snibe. All credits and debits from the linkshell bank are maintained in a ledger. The contents of this ledger are copied to the forum for member review periodically. The bank is credited through the sale of craftable items over 100,000k in value obtained through sanctioned linkshell events and ancient coin 100 pieces from non-sponsored dynamis.

To obtain gil for points, a member must post their request in the Quartermasters section of the forum. This request must include the number of points desired to cash out, and this number may not exceed the member’s current point total in the database. The total value of the bank is divided by the total number of positive points held by members to obtain a gil per point ratio. This is multiplied by the requested point cash out to obtain the gil value.

[Appendix A] Einherjar

Current Leaders:

Linkx
Brickhouse

Earning Points:

1 point for a win.
1 point for early or on-time arrival in Nashmau.
1 point for consecutive attendance.

Spending Points:

In the event an abjuration drops in a non-Odin chamber, any member who can equip the uncursed item and who has sufficient points to pay for the abjuration in full may lot the item. If this results in nobody lotting the item, then it is opened to all members with non-negative but insufficient current points. If this still results in no lotting, it is opened to all members with negative points.

For Odin runs, a bidding procedure is used to determine lotting on items. In the final 10 minutes before entry, the auctioneer (currently the linkshell leader) will accept bids on all armor, abjurations, and weapons. When Odin is defeated, the highest bidder on each drop will be announced and allowed to lot on their item. Losing bids are kept confidential. In the event nobody bid on an item that dropped, it is open to lotting by the same rules as a non-Odin chamber drop.

How to bid:

Members may bid on any number of possible items.
The sum of all the points bid must not exceed their current point total.
Members may check their point totals by following the “Member Point History” link on the main page.
Points are not charged unless the item drops and the member is the winning bidder.
Bids for each item must exceed the prices listed below by a minimum of 1 point.
Bids must be submitted to the auctioneer during the appointed time by a one-line /tell.
Each item and the quantity of points bid for each should be separated by commas.
All items and bids from one player should be on ONE LINE!
The auctioneer will confirm the bid with an “ok” response before entry into Odin’s chamber.
In the event a bid is unconfirmed during the bidding window, the member is responsible to check with the auctioneer before entry.

Other Notes:

Sellable items over 100k in value are kept for the LS bank to keep einherjar free.
Items under 100k in value are open lot to all members.
DO NOT LOT sellable items until the ok to do so is given by a leader in linkshell chat.
Odin alliances are set up by the event leader and posted on the forum a day in advance of a scheduled fight.
Participation in einherjar is on a first-come basis.
In the event an on-time member is asked to sit out for feather purposes, they will still be rewarded points for the run.

Item Costs:

All body abjurations: 100
Valhalla Body and Helm: 100
Valkyrie Fork: 50

[Appendix B] Dynamis

Current Leaders:

Mohit (Cities & Beaucedine)
Azmodius (Cities & Beaucedine)
Shadokaryuudo (Xarcabard)
Snibe (Xarcabard)
Brickhouse (Promathia)

The responsibilities of the leader of dynamis are to obtain and distribute the hourglass, determine optimal jobs for attendees, and set up alliances and explain strategy if necessary. The leader will also assign a Recorder and Chooser for the run. The Recorder notes attendance and posts it on the forum, compiles lotting comments before the run, and dictates who lots when each relic armor piece drops. The Chooser serves as a guide for all melee to fight the correct mob through use of the /assist command.

Earning Points:

1 point for attending
1 point for an area win
1 point for being on time and staying until the end

Spending Points:

In Zilart Dynamis runs, members are divided into lotting categories for each relic they wish to lot. The categories are as follows:
@1: The item is equippable by the declared main job of the member, and the member has sufficient points to pay the full cost of the item.
@2: The item is equippable by an alternate job of the member, and the member has sufficient points to pay the full cost of the item.
@3: The item is not equippable by the member, but they member has sufficient points to pay the full cost of the item.
@4: Equippable or not, the member does not have sufficient points to pay the full cost of the item.

A member may pick any number of items to lot. Each item and their current lotting category must be noted in /seacom at least 10 minutes before Dynamis entry. Members are not to lot during the run until the Recorder dictates their right to. When an item drops, all with an @1 claim on that item will be told to lot by the Recorder. If that lotting category is empty, all @2 will lot, and so on down the line.

In Promathia Dynamis runs, each member is to pick one accessory and one -1 piece they wish to lot. These are to be prioritized by the member as #1 and #2 in order of desire. All gear declared #1 or #2 must be equippable, and the member must be able to pay for the drop in full. In addition, for any declared -1 piece, the member must already have the NQ version. If an item drops which no one has declared, it will first be open lot to members who have sufficient points, then open lot to all participants.

Other Notes:

Members are not allowed to attend any outside Dynamis that interferes with our Dynamis timer.
If a member wishes to attend an outside run due to real life schedule problems they must obtain permission of the Dynamis leader.
Guests may not lot until they earn a total of 9 linkshell points.
All participants must have attended the previous Sunday Dynamis to lot @1 or @2.
Guests may not lot @1 in Xarcabard.
All Promathia dynamis participants are required to bring reraise items and poison potions. Melee are required to bring sleep potions, opo-opo necklaces, and icarus wings in addition.
All members should familiarize themselves with the Dynamis strategies posted in our forum.
Relic armor that auto-drops is free of charge.
Craftable items are not to be lotted.
In all runs financed by the linkshell bank, 100 coins are kept for the bank, while single coins are auto-dropped.
Tavnazia attendance is decided in advance of the run using a sign up sheet. Priority is given based on dynamis attendance and jobs necessary to have a successful run.

Sponsorship:

Soulfire currently allows selected members to pay for the dynamis glass in exchange for the right to lot all coins for a relic weapon upgrade. No more than 3 members will be selected for upgrading at one time, and the decision to add or replace a current Sponsor is up to the Linkshell Leader.

Sponsors must:
Be a member of the linkshell for at least one full year.
Have accumulated a minimum of 500 points.
Have a weapon upgraded to the second level or beyond.
Be responsible to lead all dynamis runs they sponsor.
Declare their main job as one that can equip the weapon they are upgrading.

While the events discussed in this section are not strictly included in linkshell policy, they are scheduled frequently enough that a set of commonly adopted rules has developed. The rules are reproduced here for reference, and an alternative rule set may be adopted by any group running these events provided that rule set is agreed upon by all participants.

ZNM & KS99

At ZNM, KS99, and other instances where a NM is popped (Alastor, Shen et al.), the member providing the pop item denotes their choice of 1 item to take as a reward before the fight begins. All other items are sold and split among the members present. Unsellables are free lot to those who can equip. At ZNM fights, the member popping may take the “trophy” item without it counting as their 1 item. At Tier 3 ZNM fights, each member contributing an item to a pop set is entitled to the 1 item selection.

HNM – Other

At non-king HNM (Simurgh, Khimaira, Tiamat) each member participating in maintaining the TOD that results in a successful camp has their choice of 1 rare/ex item. Sellables are sold and split among the members present, and other rare/ex items are free lot to those who can equip. Points may be given for a kill at the discretion of the Linkshell leader.
